Chemtec Ships TEPPCO Metering Skids
Chemtec recently completed and shipped two ultrasonic metering skids for TEPPCO Partners, L.P. These skids are part of an major project between TEPPCO and Motiva Enterprises for TEPPCO to construct and operate a new refined products storage facility to support the proposed expansion of Motiva's refinery in Port Authur, Texas. Both skids were fabricated and assembled at Chemtec's production facility in Willis, Texas.
Due to the large size of the skiids (15' W x 70'-6 L and 15' W x 63'-6 W), each was built into two separate sections that will be connected during final installation. One of the skids will be placed into gasoline service on a 20" pipeline. This skid contains two streams, one with a 12" ultrasonic meter and the other with a 10" ultrasonic meter, for a total capacity of 25,000 BPH. The second skid will be used on a 16" distillate line and contains three streams, one with a 10" ultrasonic meter and two streams with 8" ultrasonic meters, for a total capacity of 21,000 BPH.
Both skids were designed and built to ASME B31.4 & API MPMS Chapter 5.8. Due to the critical application for these skids, 100% of the welds (both structural and pipe) were tested by X-ray, mag-particle, or dye penetrant. Throughout the project, 100% of the welds passed on the first test which is a testament to the quality of Chemtec’s welding.
