Our History

Chemtec Energy Services was founded in 1999 by Gary Williams. At its inception, Chemtec’s primary focus was on manufacturing additive and dye injection systems for use at petroleum storage terminals. Gary is an entrepreneur and salesman at heart, and he quickly grew tired of handling the administrative and executive responsibilities of running Chemtec. In 2001, Gary hired his son Jeb to help with the administrative side of the business. Jeb had recently graduated from college and was working as a logistics operator for Williams Energy Services prior to joining Chemtec.

Chemtec’s core business in additive/dye injection systems was not growing, so Gary decided to expand Chemtec’s business into building metering and pump skids. Many of Chemtec’s existing customers were purchasing these skids from other companies, and Gary knew that Chemtec had the knowledge and expertise to do this work. As Chemtec began expanding its business, Gary realized that he needed more help running the company. In December 2005, Gary hired Milton Page as the President of Chemtec.

From 2006 to 2008, Chemtec’s business continued to grow, but the growth was slow. In 2009, Chemtec began to broaden its sales efforts in the midstream petroleum market, particularly in the West Texas fracking boom. These efforts paid off for Chemtec, and from 2009 to 2013, its revenue grew over 400%.

In 2014, Gary, Milton, and Jeb decided to sell Chemtec. Chemtec’s business was doing extremely well, and the market was hot for companies looking to acquire businesses like Chemtec. On December 30, 2014, Chemtec was sold to LB Foster. At that time, Gary completely retired from Chemtec, but Milton and Jeb agreed to remain in their positions.

In 2020, Chemtec’s business suffered as COVID lockdowns severely affected business. Then in January 2021, President Joe Biden signed an executive order to revoke the permit for the Keystone XL Pipeline. This sent shockwaves through the entire midstream oil & gas market, and most of the scheduled oil & gas pipeline projects were postponed. In the second half of 2022, Chemtec started seeing glimmers of hope in the oil & gas industry. Despite this upswing in Chemtec’s outlook, LB Foster management had already decided to divest the company. In late 2022, LB Foster approached Milton Page about purchasing Chemtec. These discussions were productive, and on March 30, 2023, a private partnership between Milton Page and Jeb Williams purchased Chemtec from LB Foster.
